BT2-8S Security Interface Transceiver

Features

  • Transmits security and tamper alarms and access/secure state changes for up to 32 zone inputs using coded radio frequency messages
  • Supports up to four Master Control Zones
  • Monitors and reports enclosure tamper, battery fault, and ac power failure
  • Communication with the D-700/D-21 is supervised and status changes are reported by automatic and manual poll/reply/acknowledge routines
  • Provides electrically supervised connections to access/secure key switches or keypads, security sensors or security control panels
  • Communication and line security comply with DCID 1/21 Annex B (Class II) and UL 1076 Class AA
  • All alarms/status changes are transmitted immediately and at programmed intervals until acknowledged by the D-700
  • Each BT2-8S transmits a unique identity code as part of all messages; the code is set by the user at the BT2-8S in decimal numbers using rotary dials
  • All zone programming is done at the D-700 and downloaded via radio to the BT2-8S
  • Any change to the BT2-8S identity code or memory results in an inInvalid Configurationln alarm at the D-700
  • Zones can be programmed to operate as Access/Secure, Access/Secure NT, Central Initiate, Central Initiate NT, Entry/Exit Delay, Entry/Exit Delay NT, Constant Secure, or Constant Secure NT
  • Individual LEDs indicate zone status, power status, BT2 tamper, battery fault, self-test fault, carrier detection, transmit, and receive
  • Digital display shows programming input, currently programmed options, and zone status
  • Optional auxiliary power output provides 12 Vdc @ 100 mA to power devices. Requires battery cable P/N 625-388-01 to power 12 Vdc devices
  • Narrowband radio, which is FCC certified for narrowband operation and meets the requirements of the NTIA (National Telecommunications and Information Administration) Manual of Regulations and Procedures for Federal Frequency Management
  • Up to 4 watts nominal RF output power
  • Multifunction switches provide for programming, activating displays, and built-in diagnostic tests
  • Backup battery and integral charger provide 60 hours of operation during an ac power failure
  • Selectable 115/230 Vac input

Description

The BT2-8S provides the link between security zone devices and the D-700 Radio Security Alarm Central Receiving System. The BT2-8S can monitor up to 32 zones using one antenna. The BT2-8S can be set up to have up to two Master Control Zones, which allow multiple zones to change status when the Master Control Zone changes status. Intrusion detection sensors and/or security control panels may be connected to the BT2-8S zone inputs using isolated dry contacts arranged so that a short on the zone input initiates a security alarm and an open or ground fault initiates a tamper alarm. Access/secure key switches or relay output-type keypads may also be connected to zone inputs; the zone loop is arranged so that the security alarm contact is shunted when the key switch is in the access position while still maintaining tamper protection for the loop.

Each BT2-8S zone input can be programmed to operate in one of the following modes. A zone with the NT (No Tamper) option causes a Security Alarm, rather than a Tamper Alarm.

  • Access/Secure Access and secure state changes are initiated at the protected area by an access/secure device located outside the protected area. Operation of the key switch/key pad causes an access request or secure request message at the D-700 Radio Alarm Central Receiving System. The D-700 operator can accept or deny the request; if denied, an alarm display occurs at the D-700.
  • Access/Secure NT Performs as Access/Secure, except that devices that either short or open the zone loop generate a Security Alarm.
  • Entry-Exit Delay Access and secure state changes are initiated at the protected area by an access/secure device located inside the protected area. A delay time of 10 to 80 seconds allows authorized personnel to enter and exit the protected area without initiating an alarm. Otherwise, this mode behaves as access/secure.
  • Entry/Exit Delay NT Performs as Entry/Exit Delay, except that devices that either short or open the zone loop generate a Security Alarm.
  • Central Initiate Access and secure state changes can only be initiated by the D-700 operator, there is no access/secure device at the protected area.
  • Constant Secure This zone can only be placed in secure or alarm; it cannot be placed in access.
  • Constant Secure NT Performs as Constant Secure, except that devices that either short or open the zone loop generate a Security Alarm.
  • Automatic Zones programmed as automatic change to an access or secure status along with their master control zone whenever the master control zone changes to an access or secure status. If the master control zone changes to an alarm status, all automatic zones change to secure status.
  • Automatic NT Performs as Automatic, except that devices that either short or open the zone loop generate a Security Alarm.
