An alarm is signaled only when the sensor is armed and the viewed energy has the appropriate temperature, motion, and timing. All sensors should be positioned within 100 ft. of the panel. This enables the detector to substantially increase the overall volume of its coverage area, providing superior detection performance and enhanced false-alarm immunity. Combining 3D signal image processing with the dual mirror optical system, the detector analyzes size, shape, and speed of incoming signals, while rejecting many typical false alarm sources. The two separate 180° mirror segments provide additional flexibility by enabling one of the 180° mirror segments to be shunted. One-half of the coverage pattern is eliminated simply by programming a dip switch located in the back of the sensor's housing. Unlike other ceiling mounted PIRs, the patented mirror optical system yields 18 solid curtains that flood the room with detection. These curtains emanate from the detector's ceiling-mount position to the floor below and out thirty feet in all directions for maximum coverage at eight to sixteen feet. The detector features a rotating base that allows installers to shift the entire protection pattern by 15° in either direction for easier aiming. Included with the detector are field-replaceable mirrored optics that allow it to be mounted on ceilings from 8 feet to 18 feet (2.5 m to 5.4 m) in height. The protection pattern consists of 64 zones grouped into 16 barriers, with one additional zone looking straight down from the unit. Two built-in optical modules are adjustable, according to ceiling height, for appropriate coverage. The Motion Analyzer Processing technology identifies thermal motion signals with the required signature and timing. Enclosure Design Modular high-impact ABS electronic head and mounting/wiring base design with rugged removable polyethylene dome provides easy access to field setup switches. The Motion Analyzer is a highly advanced microprocessor- controlled signal processing technique that requires a specific signature and timing of signals to generate an alarm. For existing construction, the detector may be installed directly into the wall without requiring an electrical box or special installation kit. The detector includes an adjustable pulse counter and RFI protection up to 1000 MHz to ensure the highest level of reliability and false alarm immunity along with added flexibility. The standard ultra-wide-angle lens covers a maximum 30-foot radius at a 145° angle. For maximum wiring convenience, the plug-in connector can be joined to connector pins in two ways according to the wiring entry and routing in the installation box. It detects breakage of plate, tempered, laminated, and wired glass types. A built-in environmental test feature alerts the installer of false alarm hazards in harsh environments. Audio signals are analyzed using the internal microprocessor and must produce specific frequency, signature, and timing relationships to cause an alarm. The sophistication of this processing technique insures proper performance while eliminating false alarms. Push-button or magnet-operated test mode verifies location and an operational test when using the optional glass break tester. Test mode also includes an environmental test that alerts the installer to possible false alarm sources caused by ambient noise. An externally visible alarm LED indicates an alarm or test condition and may be programmed to latch if needed.
